Officers
Our Steering Committee officers are elected by our members in 2-year terms, as designated by our AAACC Bylaws (#8).
For descriptions of our officers’ duties, please see the Bylaws (#9).
Christopher Waldo, Co-Chair
Assistant Professor of Classics, University of Washington
Chris is a Korean American adoptee who grew up in rural Vermont. He first became interested in Classics in a history class as a high school sophomore. Chris is working on a book manuscript on classical reception in Asian American literature. In his spare time, he enjoys playing the alto saxophone.
Arum Park, Co-Chair
Associate Professor of Classics, University of Arizona
Arum (AH-rum) is the daughter of Korean immigrants. She has published on ancient Greek and Roman literature, as well as on various intersections between antiquity and modernity. She especially enjoys working with fellow AAACC members like Dora Gao and Annie Huynh to talk about culturally inclusive ways of teaching Classics.
Ethan Ganesh Warren, programming Officer
Ph.D. Student, University of Texas
Hi everyone! I'm Ethan (or E, feel free to call me either). I'm a fifth year graduate student at UT-Austin on the philology track specializing in gender and sexuality in elegy as well as more public-facing DEI advocacy. I graduated from the University of Rochester in 2019 with my B.A. and received my M.A. from UT in 2021. Outside of the classroom you can catch me attempting (key word here) to run or playing fetch with my dog Kobe.
Tori Lee, outreach Officer
Postdoctoral Fellow, Boston University
Tori Lee is a multiracial, Chinese-American New Yorker. She is currently a postdoctoral fellow in the Society of Fellows at Boston University. Her research focuses on danger, obscenity, and violence in ancient literature—particularly Latin poetry and non-canonical texts. She enjoys critical classical reception, dance fitness classes, and crossword puzzles.
Lorraine Abagatnan, financial officer
Ph.D. Student, University of Michigan
Lorraine is a Ph.D. student at the University of Michigan. Her main research interests include community archaeology; food studies; archaeobotany; zooarchaeology; Christians; Late Antiquity; anticolonial theoretical frameworks; and identity formation. She recently joined the AAACC as its Financial Officer, and is looking forward to serving the caucus. As a student promoting and seeking opportunities to serve communities in her work, she is honored to meet and connect with so many bright individuals.
Annie Huynh, Secondary Education Liaison
Annie is currently a high school Latin and English Teacher in San Francisco. After completing her MA in Classics at San Francisco State University, she fell into teaching by accident and has loved it ever since. Her interests include ancient sexuality, feminist theory in Greek and Roman literature, culturally responsive teaching, and teaching social justice in the classroom. Her family is ethnically Chinese but her parents were born and raised in Vietnam before immigrating to the United States.
